CLINICAL SERVICE DELIVERY

I deliver a specialist benign prostate surgery service and specialist laparoscopic kidney surgery including laparoscopic donor Nephrectomy, over the last 10 years I have delivered > 400 nephrectomies and donor nephrectomies as well as training and mentoring nationally and internationally.

H.E.S data shows that I delivered 38% more admitted FCEs compared to National peer average (876 vs 335.8). Outpatient episodes showed a 58 % increase over national peer activity (1828 vs1060).  My new to review ratio is 1:0.91 vs a peer national of 1:2.25.

My publicly published length of stay for elective cases is lower than the national average, (1.67 vs 2.7) as is my transfusion rate.

My nationally published nephrectomy data demonstrates that I am delivering a very high quality, high volume service with excellent outcomes in the top tier nationally. This lead to me joining a national committee to improve national renal surgery outcomes.

I am one of the highest volume prostate laser surgeons in the UK, approximately 1000 Holeps and receive a high volume of tertiary referrals.

I offer a unique service with an extensive range of minimally invasive options such as holmium laser, KTP laser, urolift and prostate artery embolisation.

I have led the development of improving benign prostate diagnosis and treatment pathways and supporting specialist nurse led clinics in renal cancer, male urinary symptoms and prostate cancer.

I receive external referrals for patients who are deemed high risk for prostate or kidney surgery and I  have demonstrated good outcomes for these patients.
